Overview
The Alignment Checker is an AI evaluation agent built into every Product Knowledge Hub. It scans all the knowledge your team has contributed and identifies misalignments, gaps, and contradictions across four critical dimensions.
It doesn’t just flag issues. It tells you exactly where the conflict lives, links to the source knowledge, and recommends specific next steps to resolve it.
Zero configuration required
The Alignment Checker works immediately with whatever knowledge is in your hub. No setup, no training, no configuration. Click the button and get results in seconds.
Four Dimensions of Alignment
Every assessment evaluates your product knowledge across four dimensions:
Dimension | What It Evaluates |
Technical | Do engineering specs match product requirements and market needs? |
Market | Do features align with customer needs and market research? |
Strategic | Does product direction support business objectives and resource constraints? |
Process | Are teams following established development methodologies and governance? |
Three Ways to Run It
1. Single Hub
Evaluate all knowledge within one Product Knowledge Hub for internal consistency.
How to access:
Open your Product Knowledge Hub
Navigate to the Evaluate section
Click Alignment Checker
The system scans all documents, research, decisions, and contributions in your hub and returns a full alignment report organized by dimension.
2. Cross Hub
Scan across multiple Product Knowledge Hubs to catch cross-product conflicts, duplications, and inconsistencies.
How to access:
Navigate to the Evaluate section
Select the hubs you want to compare
Click Run Cross-Product Report
Cross Hub mode is especially useful for organizations managing multiple products that share engineering resources, market segments, or strategic objectives.
3. Editor Sidebar
Real-time alignment checking while you write, directly in the Rich Text Editor.
How to access:
Open any document in the Rich Text Editor
Click the Evaluate tab in the right sidebar
The Alignment Checker runs automatically when a document is generated, or you can trigger it manually
When the Alignment Checker identifies a conflict with a specific section of text, a yellow highlight marks the relevant passage in the editor, and the conflict details appear in the Evaluate sidebar.
What You’ll See in the Results
Every Alignment Checker report includes:
Identified conflicts and misalignments — Specific issues organized by dimension, with a description of the conflict and the elements involved
Source attribution — Every finding links directly to the specific knowledge sources in your hub so you can see exactly where the conflict originates
Actionable recommendations — Specific resolution options for each identified issue, including recommended text changes where applicable
Gap analysis — Missing information that could lead to misalignment, including knowledge gaps your team may not have realized were absent
One-click resolution — In the Editor Sidebar, you can accept suggested changes instantly to update your document
Source traceability
Every finding links directly to the specific knowledge in your hub. No ambiguity — click through, see the source, and make a decision with full context.
When to Use It
The Alignment Checker adds the most value at critical decision points in your product development process:
When | Why |
Before gate reviews | Run it as a pre-flight checklist to confirm all inputs are consistent and nothing critical is missing before your review meeting. |
During cross-functional handoffs | Check alignment when transitioning between R&D, engineering, and marketing. Handoffs are where misalignment hides. |
At strategic decision points | Evaluate alignment before major pivots, feature changes, or resource allocation decisions. |
During quarterly planning | Assess portfolio-level alignment to confirm individual product decisions still support broader business strategy. |
After adding significant knowledge | When you upload a large batch of new documents or research, run the Alignment Checker to see how the new knowledge fits with what’s already there. |
Tips for Better Results
Add more knowledge, get better results. The richer your Product Knowledge Hub, the more comprehensive the alignment assessment. Upload specs, meeting notes, research findings, competitive analysis, customer feedback — everything relevant to your product.
Make it part of your pre-gate checklist. Run the Alignment Checker before every gate review. It catches what human review misses and gives your team confidence that all inputs are consistent.
Use Cross Hub for portfolio visibility. If your organization manages multiple products, Cross Hub mode reveals conflicts and duplications across product lines that you’d never catch manually.
Use the Editor Sidebar while writing. Check alignment in real time as you draft documents. Catch misalignments before they make it into final deliverables — it’s faster than fixing them after the fact.
Don’t ignore gaps. The Alignment Checker doesn’t just find what’s wrong. It identifies what’s missing. Knowledge gaps are often harder to spot than conflicts, but they’re just as dangerous to your product development timeline.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Alignment Checker require any setup?
No. It works immediately with whatever knowledge is in your Product Knowledge Hub. No configuration, no training, no custom rules. Click the button and get results.
How long does an alignment check take?
Results typically appear in seconds. The exact time depends on the volume of knowledge in your hub, but the assessment runs in the background and won’t interrupt your work.
Can I keep working while it runs?
Yes. The Alignment Checker runs as a non-blocking background process. You can continue editing, reviewing, or contributing knowledge while it completes the assessment.
What happens if no conflicts are found?
The system will confirm that no conflicts were detected. This is a good sign — it means your team’s knowledge is consistent across all four dimensions.
Can I ignore a recommendation?
Yes. Recommendations are suggestions, not mandatory actions. You can choose to accept, modify, or ignore any finding based on your team’s judgment. The Alignment Checker provides the intelligence. Your team makes the decisions.
Who can run the Alignment Checker?
Any team member with access to the Product Knowledge Hub can run the Alignment Checker. There are no special permissions required.
How is this different from a manual review?
A manual review relies on individual knowledge and attention. The Alignment Checker scans every piece of knowledge in your hub simultaneously, cross-referencing across all four dimensions. It catches things that no single person could realistically track across an entire product’s knowledge base.
